"But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ...

...and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own, derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith...

...that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead."

March: Ministry

Introductory Letter August September October November December January February March April May

  • True ministry results from living a disciplined life in fellowship with God, rather than from human effort.
  • Since God has predetermined who will be saved and who will not be saved, we are not responsible to convert anyone, nor is it our fault if anyone goes to hell.
  • It is our responsibility to obey God in the areas of evangelism, discipleship, and service.
  • God has commanded us to preach the gospel to all creation and make disciples of all nations.
  • He has also commanded that we do good to all, especially fellow believers.
  • Public preaching is a man's ministry.
  • Discipleship involves teaching others to obey God in every area of life.
  • Evangelism through discipleship produces lasting fruit.
  • Discipleship is best accomplished within a family, or with men discipling men or women discipling women.
  • Our appearance and the way we conduct ourselves in the world should be a testimony of the Lord.
  • We should be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks us about the Lord.
  • When sharing the gospel, we should urge people to consider the high cost of following Christ and the suffering that is promised to His disciples.
  • God's only requirement for salvation is faith, which is His gift, not something we can muster up or impart to others ourselves.
  • Since God gives faith by His Word, we should use the Bible as the primary tool not only for discipleship, but also for evangelism.
  • God can lead people to a saving faith through a wide variety of routes, which may or may not include the "Roman Road," a "sinner's prayer," hand-raising, aisle-walking, pledge-signing, etc.
  • Someone who has believed in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation should confess Him as Lord, be baptized, fellowship with other believers, and obey God's Word.
  • A family ministering in harmony together can bear much fruit for God's kingdom.
  • God may lead families to ministries such as hospitality, music, or serving church members.
  • When we serve in Christ's name, we should not be concerned about the apparent results, but only that we are obeying the Lord and growing closer to Him through our ministry.
  • A woman who is called to be a missionary should still be a keeper at home, living as a member of a household, under the immediate authority of a man, normally her father or husband.
