"But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ...

Syllabus: Introductory Letter

Introductory Letter August September October November December January February March April May

Dear Parents,

Congratulations! You have been selected by the Lord of the Universe as the best possible parents for a special young lady whom He has placed within your home. He has entrusted to you the task of training her up in the way of the Lord, to become a Godly woman radiating the character of Christ. What an awesome privilege and responsibility!

Your time in which to fulfill this duty is steadily ticking away. Supposing that your daughter has ten years remaining under your authority before she is married, and that twelve hours a day are occupied with sleeping, eating, and grooming, you have 43,830 hours remaining to train your daughter in righteousness. Do you have a vision for how you will use that irreplaceable time?

No doubt you have spent countless hours throughout your daughter's childhood praying for her, teaching her about the Lord, providing for her needs, and giving her loving discipline. We hope and pray that she has already trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, gained an understanding of His word, and begun to develop His virtue within her. Now you may notice a need to adjust your training as this beautiful flower blooms within your family.

Would you like some assistance in fulfilling your task of raising your daughter through her youth? If so, we invite you to bring her to our home one Saturday afternoon each month for COMMIT Club. Our daughters Hannah (age 22) and Rachel (age 20) teach principles from God's word in a manner particularly understandable, enjoyable, and applicable for young ladies ages 11-15. We encourage you to bring older daughters as well, and we would be especially pleased to see you mothers attend along with your daughters, as a matter of participating in their instruction.

In order to honor your authority over your daughter as we lead this Club, we have prepared this Syllabus, summarizing the Scriptural points we plan to cover at each meeting. The actual format of presenting these truths will include such creative elements as testimonies, stories, illustrations, drama, object lessons, activities, and interaction. Each meeting will also include singing and a time for participants to voice questions or comments to the teachers, and each meeting will end with a tea party. We hope that the fellowship with other young ladies who are seeking the Lord will further encourage your daughter to apply what she learns at COMMIT Club.

If you would like your daughter to join COMMIT Club, please read this Syllabus carefully; contact us if you have any questions or concerns about the material; and fill out the Membership Form for your daughter. We will pray for your family regularly, and look forward with eager anticipation to the joy of participating in the training of a Godly young woman. Thank you, parents, for your commitment to fulfilling your God-given responsibility regarding your daughter!

Warmly in Christ,
The Malone Family
